Remote - Senior Backend Developer (Kotlin / Java)

Are you a senior backend developer who moves fast, makes decisions, and delivers without being chased? A global fintech startup specializing in real-time stock market data is looking for someone who takes full ownership of their work and builds high-performance systems in Kotlin.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, high-performance backend services in Kotlin
• Take end-to-end ownership of features: from design through to deployment
• Identify bottlenecks, propose architectural improvements, and execute on them
• Collaborate with the product and engineering team on technical decisions
• Maintain code quality standards, documentation, and engineering best practices
• Actively contribute technical judgment — initiative is expected, not just execution

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, or solid Java background with a proven ability to learn quickly
• Experience designing REST APIs and high-performance systems
• Upper-intermediate English or above
• 100% autonomous profile: initiative, ownership, and execution without micromanagement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fintech, trading platforms, or real-time data systems
• Knowledge of WebSockets or data streaming
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems
